Universidad Austral to Host AACSB International Conference This June

IAE Business School-Universidad Austral will host AACSB International’s World Class Practices in Management Education conference from 1-3 June 2008. AACSB International is an association of more than 1,100 educational institutions, businesses and other organizations in 70 countries that are dedicated to the advancement of business education worldwide. AACSB International is the longest serving and largest global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master’s, Health Education and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.
Deans, directors, university presidents, researchers and faculty from countries including Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Georgia, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom will gather in Buenos Aires, Argentina to share best practices, explore current trends and initiatives, and visualize new possibilities in the business education field. As AACSB’s signature event for Latin America, this three-day conference will focus on global issues and unique challenges important to business schools in Latin American and the Caribbean.
Conference workshops and plenary sessions will cover an array of topics including a discussion with former Argentina Minister of Education Juan Llach. A respected economist and current professor at Universidad Austral, he will speak on the economic and social situation of the Latin American region and its effects on management education. Discussions will also center on strategies for addressing the global faculty shortage, the relationship between business and academia, Health Education and strategic leadership in business schools. Finally, the conference will review the benefits, structure, and quality assurance mechanisms of AACSB accreditation, including updates to the standards and tips for successful maintenance of accreditation.
