Rally to protest Putnam job cuts

Putnam’s largest union plans a protest Wednesday against county plans to cut jobs and not fill vacancies in 2009.

“We’re very upset with the proposed cuts when there is money from sales tax for these jobs,” said Jessica Ladlee, spokeswoman for the Civil Service Employees Association, Southern Region Office.

After the 5:15 rally outside the Historic Courthouse at 44 Gleneida Ave. in Carmel, protesters will attend a public hearing on the proposed county budget, at 7 p.m. at the Emergency Operations Center, 110 Old Route 6, Carmel.
